In addition to the mentioned side effects several others have been reported. In both males and females acne are frequently reported, as well as hypertrophy of sebaceous glands, increased tallow excretion, hair loss, and alopecia. There is some evidence that anabolic steroid abuse may affect the immune system, leading to a decreased effectiveness of the defense system. Steroid use decreases the glucose tolerance, while there is an increase in insulin resistance. These changes mimic Type II diabetes. These changes seem to be reversible after abstention from the drugs.

He came up with it after years of studying steroid users in Boston-area gyms and comparing them not just to non-steroid users in the same gyms, but also to bodybuilders from different eras. For a 1995 study, Pope and his coauthors estimated the FFMIs of Mr. America winners from 1939 to 1959, before steroids were readily available. The group includes future B-movie star Steve Reeves, whose physique was so iconic that he was name-checked in The Rocky Horror Picture Show . The average FFMI was . (One of the highest was George Eiferman, Mr. America 1948, with a FFMI. His upper body was later the model for George of the Jungle, a 1960s cartoon character.) Even today, with all we’ve learned about training and nutrition, an FFMI in the mid 20s is still considered the ceiling for natural bodybuilders. Anything above 26 or 27 is suspect.

Pantethine is safer and works the same. It is the active ingredient in Vitamin B5. If you have -any questions, feel free to ask me and I'll respond in this thread.

guys,
I wish I had seen the info on pantethine before starting b5 powder 10 days ago. I have had moderate acne for 30 years... had 4 rounds of accutane. Currently on minocycline, tazorac, % benzoyl peroxide. This minimized my acne to 2-3 small lesions at any time.
So far, the b5 is affecting my skin AS WELL AS accutane. My oil slick of a face is almost at normal sebum levels already. My nose isn't shiny after all day at work. I'm excited, because if I can back off the dosage after 3 months, it could be a maintenance drug!!! No more oily skin and zits!

I think I'll maintain the b5 and watch for posts from people who have switched over to the pantethine.

BTW: I am an inorganic chemist and medical researcher. This stuff is not without side effects (diarrhea-common, hair loss-rare). From what I've read, you need to take a multi-b vitamin while megadosing b5. Since it's water soluble (not fat soluble) the excess will be excreted from your body. Compared to accutane (stores in the liver) risks are minor.
Good luck!!!!

Typical teenage acne, so-called acne vulgaris, is characterized by three types of lesions: the comedo or blackhead; the inflammatory papule; and the pustule or pimple. Drug induced-acne can be difficult to distinguish from other sorts of acne except for the fact that it was not present prior to taking the drug. Machinists exposed to insoluble cutting oils can develop comedones at the sites of exposure. Inflammatory lesions may be less prominent. Acne can also be a part of certain hormonal problems caused by the overproduction of androgens.

k) Impotence
When first administering steroids, a man will have an increase in sexual function. This unfortunately is only temporary as your body becomes used to the steroid in its system. With prolonged use of a steroid, eventually, the man will feel less sexual desire, and will be less capable of maintaining an erection. Luckily, this is only temporary as well and can even be totally prevented with the use of substance such as Gonakor and HCG. Also when the steroid use is discontinued, the body’s natural level of testosterone (like the immune system) will certainly be suppressed.
